Message to Future Generations
When the "truth" is presented to us do we accept it for what it is or do we question it and search for our own conclusion? I've always been the kind of person who accepts things for what it is because I never really cared to do my own research. At times it just feels "logical" to accept the truth for what it is. It's interesting when people like Bertrand Russell speak on things such as questioning the information fed to us because from an early age we're never taught to do our own research. Whether it be at school (excluding college), at home, on social media, etc we're constantly fed information and we just take it for what it is. It's an eye-opening video as it feels because when we question the truth such as the information we consume at school, on social media, or on the news, it kind of pushes us to question authority as a whole. It's videos like these that make you question a lot of the things going on. The censorship with the information given to us daily, the things our politicians say daily, and the laws/policies put in place that keeps us safe but a lot of these laws/policies are bs.
"Love is wise, hatred is foolish" is an interesting quote because people tend to overlook the fact that just being a kind person and telling someone a simple "hello" or acknowledging someone can go a long way for some. I feel like just being kind is the morally right thing to do. There isn't really a point in living a bitter life or fixating on the little things in life because they won't matter in the end. I feel the need to call myself out on this because I for one tend to get annoyed/fixate with minor inconveniences that happen throughout my day-to-day life. I get annoyed with horrible drivers (when I'm no different at times), I tend to fixate on what I want to wear to school, and I complain that I need to save money but I'm spending it like crazy. I feel like when I reflect on these things it's all really dumb and pointless. Money comes and goes, I don't remember half the people I see on campus, and driving, that's a whole other thing haha but in the end, when I'm gone, will it even matter anymore? I'm not taking money, clothes, anything really when I'm gone so it's all, like I said, pointless. All we leave behind are the memories we create with our loved ones and the impact we have on others. All we can do is just be kind people and make sure we lead a good life.
What it boils down to is people over things. That's what makes a good day, isn't it?
